This should be considered as a sign of underlying complex problem. The problem can range from urinary tract infection to stone in bladder or prostate enlargement in men or cancer. Cystoscopy supports surgeon in accurate diagnosis and planning appropriate treatment plan.

Cystoscopy is an invasive surgical procedure doneto get a view of inside of urinary bladder and urethra. It is done with a cystoscope, an instrument which is thin, long tube having a light and camera at rear end. Cystoscope are available in two types – Flexible and Rigid.  Cystoscope is inserted through urethra into the bladder and captured images are seen on screen revealing the real time situation details. Anaesthesia either local/general is given for completion of the procedure without any difficulty/stress to patient. Cystoscopy is performed for diagnosis as well as for treatment purpose. Depending upon the objective, type of cystoscope are used; flexible cystoscope is used for diagnostic purpose whereas rigid one is used for treatment and biopsy purpose.

Cystoscopy for diagnosis of urinary tract ailments:
